Local swimmer earns four gold at Indigenous Games

British Columbia won the overall team title at the 2017 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) for athletes ages 13 to 19 in Toronto.

Team BC competed in 13 sports and won a total of 176 medals (65 gold, 57 Silver, 54 bronze) over the course of the competition.

Team Saskatchewan was second, 12 medals behind.

Claire Brown of the Prince George Barracudas racked up five swimming medals, including four gold, at the NAIG.

Brown earned gold in the 100-metre backstroke, 200-metre backstroke, 50-metre butterfly, and 100-metre butterfly, plus a silver in the 200-metre butterfly.
