Local businessman donates $50,000 to Salvation Army assisting wildfire evacuees

A Prince George businessman donated $50,000 to assist the wildfire evacuees in the city.

Salvation Army Captain Neil Wilkinson says the donor will remain anonymous, but he did issue a challenge.

“He is challenging all the financial institutions in the province to meet or beat his donation and that’s a huge challenge that’s going out, so while he wanted to remain anonymous he did want us to get the word out there that he’s looking for somebody to step up.”

The additional funds will be centered around three things.

“We are providing frontline support for the evacuees and we’re taking care of practical needs like food and clothing and and personal items on the front line,” says Wilkinson.

Wilkinson thanks, all of their donors who have contributed to the wildfire crisis that ravaged several communities within the Cariboo.
