The Prince George Festival of Trees has been running for a quarter of a century.
The festival, held at the Prince George Civic Centre, is an iconic event for the Northern Capital and is celebrating 25 years this year.
Judy Neiser, Chief Executive Officer of the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, says over $8 million dollars through the event since its inception.
“It’s amazing, every year it keeps going up and up. It’s a significant contributor to what Spirit of the North raises.”
“That’s the true spirit of giving because it’s not about what they are getting for their money, it’s the fact that they see the need and they understand that health care is expensive. People open their hearts and their wallets, obviously for a tax receipt, but just to make sure that the items that are needed so badly in the healthcare industry are funded,” said Neiser.
She added while many of the ticketed events are sold out, there’s many to attend that are free of charge.

Spirit of the North also presented a gift to the City of Prince George on Friday night commemorating the event’s legacy.
As part of the official kick-off to the silver anniversary, a carved statue featuring the Festival of Trees logo was unveiled (pictured right).
