Mayor Lyn Hall honoured as Community Champion

It was an individual being recognized, but a group effort nevertheless.

The Forest Products Association of Canada hosted its annual Awards of Excellence luncheon in Vancouver where it recognized individual and group contributions that are making a difference and taking the industry into the future.

Lyn Hall was a recipient of the Forest Community Champion Award, alongside parliamentary members Jim Carr, Ed Fast, as well as the mayor of Dolbeau-Mistassini in Quebec, Pascal Cloutier.

“It’s an honuor to receive this award and I hope that everyone in Prince George who’s involved with the forest industry takes pride in receiving this national recognition,” said Mayor Hall.

The Prince George area is home to about 300 forest-related businesses that support about 9,000 jobs.

“Those people product billions of dollars worth of forest products that are exported from our community annually and they are also at the forefront of innovation in new products, bioenergy, and forest management,” Hall added.
