Prince George RCMP will continue a speeding campaign throughout the summer given recent numbers from May.
According to police, they observed 251 speeding violations, 11 excessive speeding violations resulting in an impoundment, and 36 cases of speeding in a school zone.
Corporal Craig Douglass said they stopped someone going double the speed limit just last Monday.
“An 18-year-old male that was clocked along Foothills in a 60 km zone going 131 km per hour, which is more than twice the speed limit and is definitely a concern.”
The driver was issued a $483 fine, and the vehicle he was driving was impounded. The investigating officers also submitted a dangerous driver report to the BC Superintendent of Motor Vehicles for future licensing considerations.
In addition to speeding RCMP also observed three cases of failing to slow down and move over for an emergency vehicle, three instances of following too closely, and four incidents of driving without consideration for others.
“Please slow down and respect the other drivers on the road and keep everyone safe,” said Douglass.
