PG COUGARS:
The Prince George Cougars announced today (Thursday) that Mark Lamb will continue in the dual role as the team’s head coach and general manager.
Lamb had been the team’s interim head coach since February 7th.

The 54-year-old Lamb (turns 55 next month) decided to stay in Prince George after turning down an assistant coaching job with the Edmonton Oilers.
The Cougars also announced that they are looking for an associate coach after parting ways with Steve O’Rourke.
SPRUCE KINGS:
The defending BCHL champion Prince George Spruce Kings open their 2019-20 schedule at home on Friday, Sept. 6th against the Surrey Eagles.
The Spruce Kings play 24 of 27 home games at the RMCA on either a Friday or a Saturday as well as two on a Wednesday and one on a Sunday.
The 2019 BCHL Showcase Festival presented by Bauer will be held in 2 locations this fall

JUNIOR GOLF
Two Prince George golfers made the 36-hole cut at the BC Junior Boys and Girls golf championships in Nanoose Bay.
On the boys’ side, Cody Bailey is tied for 5th, six shots from the top.
Bailey is at five-over 147 following rounds of 75 and 72.
Nolan Nicol of 100 Mile House missed the cut by 18 shots (rounds of 94 and 83).
In the girls’ division, Natasha Kozlowski is tied for 11th, 15 strokes off the pace.
Kozlowski fired a second round 84 to go with an opening day 78 for a 162 total.
55 male and 20 female golfers made the cut to qualify for the third round today and final round Friday in the 72-hole tournaments.
PG SOCCER:
Prince George Youth Soccer hosts the Provincial Boys`B`Cup championships beginning today at the PGYSA Fields and Masich Place Stadium.
The host PG Impact has two teams entered in the Under-13 division and one each in Under-15 and Under-18.
Finals are scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 2:00.

NBA:
ESPN analyst Jalen Rose has reported he is 99 % sure two-time NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard is returning to the Toronto Raptors on a two-year deal.
Leonard met with the Raptors Wednesday after having in-person discussions with the LA Clippers and LA Lakers earlier in the week.
The 28-year-old Leonard averaged 30.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 24 playoff games.

TENNIS:
A couple of Canadians have advanced at Wimbledon.
Milos Raonic, the men’s 15th seed, and Felix Auger-Aliassime both won on Wednesday to move on to the third round.
