TENNIS:
Novak Djokovic won an epic nearly five-hour thriller, defeating Roger Federer in a fifth set tie-breaker (13-12) to capture the men’s title at Wimbledon.
Djokovic became the first man in 71 years to take home the trophy from the All England Club after needing to erase championship points.
This triumph earned Djokovic his fifth Wimbledon title and 16th Grand Slam trophy overall.
We just watched the longest final in Wimbledon history at 4 hours and 55 minutes.
Roger Federer’s 94 winners are his most ever in a Grand Slam final.

Only Federer with 20 and Rafael Nadal with 18, own more Grand Slam men’s titles than Djokovic, who has won four of the last five Majors.
The 37-year-old Federer competed in his 12th Wimbledon final.

Simona Halep won her first Wimbledon title, and second Grand Slam, with a crushing 6-2, 6-2 victory over Serena Williams in less than an hour.
The 37-year-old Williams was denied her 8th Wimbledon and 24th Grand Slam title.
The 27-year-old Halep of Romania has moved up to No 4 in the world rankings.

CFL: (Week Five)
The Montreal Alouettes have sacked general manager Kavis Reed.
According to Alouettes president and CEO Patrick Boivin, the move is not related to the team’s impending sale or the performance on the field.
Montreal 36 Ottawa 19 (Saturday)
Both the Alouettes and RedBlacks are 2-2.
Hamilton 30 Calgary 23 (Saturday)
The Ti-Cats ended a 15-game losing streak to Calgary that included the 2014 Grey Cup.
Hamilton improved to 4-1 while Calgary dropped to 2-2.

The 1-4 B.C. Lions play their next game on Saturday in Saskatchewan against the 1-3 Roughriders.
PG LACROSSE:
The Prince George Posse earned the bronze medal at the B.C. A2 peewee lacrosse championship in Delta.
After going 2-2-1 in the six-team division round robin, Prince George beat Richmond 9-5 in the third-place game.

The Westwood Pub Devils play Northland Nissan Assault in the Prince George Senior Lacrosse best-of-five final starting Tuesday night at 8:00 at Kin 1.
Prior to the game, league awards will be handed out.
