PG/BC Sports—Tuesday, April 29

–The Prince George Kodiaks “Red” 14U Boys Club Volleyball team, coached by Jay Guillet and Todd Kuc, placed 5th with an overall 5-1 record at the Provincials. The “Red” Kodiaks, who suffered their only loss in the quarter finals, had the best result of the five P.G. teams that competed in various age groups at the BC Club Volleyball Championships.

–Damon Calfa scored his 5th goal of the game in overtime to give the BX Pub Bandits their first win of the season in Prince George Senior Lacrosse, 11-10 over the Northland/Nissan Assault. The Bandits are 1-2 while the Assault fall to 0-2. The Westwood Pub Devils lead at 2-0 followed by the Quesnel Crossfire at 1-0 and the Cowboy Ranch/Regional Security Stylers at 1-1.

–The WHL Board of Governors will meet Wednesday (April 30) in Calgary to review the application to transfer the ownership of the Prince George Cougars. Rick Brodsky has entered into an agreement to sell the Cougars to a P.G. group headed by local businessman Greg Pocock. A two-thirds majority vote is required from the Governors to make the transaction official.

–The BCHL champion Coquitlam Express are the only unbeaten team at the Western Canada Cup in Dauphin, Manitoba. The Express improved to 2-0 with a 2-1 victory over Winnipeg.
