Colton Poulin scored five goals for the Devils, who exploded with nine goals in the second period.

Devils three-peat after winning the best-of-five Prince George Senior Lacrosse final 3-0, outscoring the Assault 44-20 in the series.

The Westwood Pub Devils and Northland Nissan Assault are among four teams that will compete at the Sr C Lacrosse Provincials/Treasure Cove Invitational this weekend at Kin 1.

The round-robin begins Friday night at 6 with the top two teams in the final Sunday afternoon at 1:30.

Out of town teams are Port Coquitlam and Vancouver Island (Victoria/Saanich).

Here is the full schedule of the tournament:

Devils vs Assault – 6 pm Kin 1 (Friday)
Arrow vs Port Coquitlam – 8 pm Kin 1 (Friday)
Devils vs Arrows – 11 am Kin 1 (Saturday)
Assault vs Port Coquitlam – 1 pm Kin 1 (Saturday)
Assault vs Arrows – 6 pm Kin 1 (Saturday)
Port Coquitlam vs Devils – 8 pm Kin 1 (Saturday)
3rd vs 4th – 11 am Kin 1 (Sunday)

The Prince George Posse will participate in the Provincial midget B lacrosse championship this week in Langley.

The Posse play the first of four round-robin games Thursday against Oceanside (1:30 PM).

They also meet Port Moody Friday (9:00 AM), Langley Friday (1:30 PM) and Saanich (Saturday 9:30 AM).

Playoffs follow Saturday night and Sunday.

MATVICHUK:

Former Prince George Cougars head coach Richard Matvichuk has landed a new job.

Matvichuk, 46, has been hired as hockey director for the Burnaby Winter Club.

He spent nearly three seasons with the Cougars before being released in February of this year.

PG SPRUCE KINGS:

Prince George Spruce Kings forward Nick Poisson has committed to Providence College for the 2020/2021 season.

Poisson, who will play one more year in PG, is the 13th NCAA committed player from the Spruce Kings 2018-19 championship season.

ABERDEEN GOLF:

University of Fraser Valley student Wyatt Brook dominated the Aberdeen Glen Men’s Open.

The 20-year-old Brook, who grew up in Smithers, posted a 54-hole tournament record score of 17-under-202, good for an eight-shot victory over defending champion Adam Veenstra of Smithers (who attends Grand Canyon University in Phoenix).

Blair Scott of Prince George and Joel Veenstra of Smithers tied for third, but 18 strokes off the pace.


MLB:

Cleveland Indians  7  Toronto Blue Jays  3  

The (38-64) are 0-1 on a six-game homestand that continues tonight against the (58-41) Indians.

Toronto has 60 games left in its season.

CFL: 

The BC Lions are one-third through their 18-game schedule.

They are 1-5 overall and 0-5 in their division.

The Lions are averaging 21 points a game but giving up nearly 33.

BC will host Saskatchewan Saturday (4:00 PM) to complete the home and home.

The Riders whipped the Lions 38-25 this past weekend in Regina.

Week 7 of the CFL season begins Thursday with a pair of games: Calgary at Ottawa (4:00 PM)
followed by Toronto at Edmonton (6:30).

The Friday night game has Winnipeg at Hamilton (4:00 PM) in a match-up of division leaders.
