It’s been a few years in the making but the finish line is now in sight for the Blackburn RE/MAX All Wheels Adventure Park.

According to the City of Prince George and the Blackburn Community Association, a grand opening is slated for September.

Jamie Kranrod is the Treasurer of the Blackburn Community Association who told MyPGNow.com the project will provide more opportunities for youth.

“I think it is a really great modern addition as it is a growing area with younger families plus it keeps kids off of the streets with their skateboards and what have you and puts them in a safe recreational environment.”

“I think it is a great addition to the all wheels culture, so whether you are a skateboarder, BMX rider or a strider rider, there is something for everyone.”

She believes a project such as this was a long time coming.

“It’s very exciting, it’s been a project two years in the making with countless volunteer hours and sponsors who have helped make this project come to fruition.”

“There isn’t a lot of infrastructures out in our more rural areas, however, it really is going to become a destination park because it’s very unique when compared to the other parks within our Prince George community.”

Kranrod adds they continue to raise funds for Phase Two of the bike park, which is an elaboration of the current skatepark equipment installed.

The City of Prince George provided 90-thousand dollars in funding for the project while the community association raised over 182-thousand along with over $300,000 via sponsorships and donations.
