The regular-season starts for the BCHL champion Spruce Kings on Friday, September 6th when they host the Surrey Eagles in the first of a doubleheader.
PG Cougars:
Veteran defenceman Jack Sander scored twice for Team Black in a 5-3 victory over Team White in the Prince George Cougars inter-squad game Tuesday night.

The Cougars will play five pre-season games, none of them in Prince George.
They start exhibition play on Friday, Sept. 6th against the Kamloops Blazers in Langley.
Canadian Bianca Andreescu, the 15th seed, won her opening match at the US Open.
Andreescu overcame 32 unforced errors to beat a 17-year-old American qualifier Katie Volynets 6-2, 6-4.
She will meet Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium in the second round.
On the men’s side, Vasek Pospisil of Vancouver upset No. 9 seed Karen Khachanov in five sets.
In an all-Canadian Tuesday first-round match, 20-year-old Denis Shapovalov whipped 19-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 6-1, 6-4.

Toronto Blue Jays 3 Atlanta Braves 1
Same teams play again tonight in Toronto to wrap up a two-game mini-series.
The Jays are 54-80 with 28 games left while the NL East-leading Braves are 80-54.

Women’s Baseball:
Amanda Asay of Prince George helped Canada qualify for the 2020 women’s baseball World Cup.
The 31-year-old Asay, a 14-year player on the national team, pitched the win in Canada’s 11-1 victory over host Mexico, in the bronze medal game at the World Cup qualifying tournament.

Fastpitch:
The Big Guy Lake Kings compete on the long weekend at the Sr Men’s & Master Men’s National
fastpitch championships in Grande Prairie.
The Kings are the first team from Prince George to play in a Nationals since the Prince George Black Bears hosted the event in 2007.
Canada West Men’s Soccer:
The UNBC Timberwolves host the Fraser Valley Cascades Friday night at 6:00 at Masich Place in their Canada West men’s soccer home opener.
The two teams also play Sunday afternoon at 1:00 in Prince George to complete the doubleheader.
The UNBC men are 1-1 after splitting a pair of 2-1 decisions against UBC Okanagan in Kelowna.
Fraser Valley is 0-2 after falling 2-0 to both UBC and Victoria.

Week 12 in the CFL begins with Winnipeg at Saskatchewan Sunday (noon PT) followed by Toronto at Hamilton Monday (10 AM PT) and Edmonton at Calgary on Monday (1:30 PM).
The BC Lions return to action on Friday, Sept. 6th (4:30 PM PT) at Montreal.
The 1-9 Lions are riding a six-game losing streak.
