BCHL:
The Prince George Spruce Kings play in Merritt tonight against the Centennials in BCHL pre-season action.
The Spruce Kings defeated Merritt 5-3 at the RMCA on Tuesday.
The regular-season begins for the defending BCHL champions Friday, September 6th when they host the Surrey Eagles.

The Prince George Cougars will play five WHL pre-season games, with none of them in the northern capital.
They start exhibition play on Friday, Sept. 6th against the Kamloops Blazers in Langley.

The Cariboo Cougars major midget hockey team is hosting the Everett Silvertips midget programs.
After two days of practices, the games will begin today at 3pm from the Elks Centre and will run until Sunday.

The Big Guy Lake Kings are 1-3 at the Sr Men’s National fastpitch championships in Grande Prairie.
The Kings won 8-4 over the Elmira Expos on Thursday morning before falling in the afternoon 3-1 against the Galway Hitmen.
Big Guy Lake plays the Saskatoon Angels today at 2pm followed by the nightcap at 6:30 against Oshweken Hill United.

Canada West Men’s Soccer:
The UNBC Timberwolves host the Fraser Valley Cascades Friday night at 6:00 at Masich Place in their Canada West men’s soccer home opener.
The two teams also play Sunday afternoon at 1:00 in Prince George to complete the doubleheader.
The UNBC men are 1-1 while Fraser Valley is 0-2.

The Jays are coming off a 9-4 loss against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.

Tennis
Canadian Bianca Andreescu is off to the third round at the US Open.
She beat Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium 6-3 and 7-5.
On the men’s side, Dennis Shapavalov also punched his ticket to round three with a 6-4, 7-6, and 6-2 victory over Henri Lakksonen of Switzerland.
Shapavalov will now play 13th ranked Gael Monfils on Saturday.
