Bianca Andreescu will play in a quarterfinal at a major tennis tournament for the first time tonight.

If the 15th seeded Andreescu can beat No. 25, Elise Mertens of Belgium, she will become just the third Canadian female in history to reach the US Open semifinals.

A stunner on the men’s side at the US Open as 38-year-old Roger Federer lost in five sets against 78th-ranked Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals.

Federer led two sets to one before his upper back and neck gave him trouble.

Dimitrov will compete in a Slam semi for the third time, facing No. 5 seed Daniil Medvedev on Friday.

No. 2 Rafael Nadal will play his quarterfinal this evening against #20 Diego Schwartzman.

Three Prince George Cougars will participate this week (Sept 6th-10th) at NHL Prospect
