The Prince George Spruce Kings were chomping at the bit to play the Victoria Grizzlies.
After dispatching the Island Division champions in four games during the BCHL Playoffs back in March, the Spruce Kings picked up right where they left off cruising to a 6-1 victory on Friday in front of 789 fans at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
Evan Orr got off to the perfect start with Prince George lighting the lamp in his first BCHL game after being acquired in a trade earlier this week.
Corey Cunningham, Andrew Seaman and Ryan McAllister continued the offensive onslaught in the opening 20 minutes giving the Spruce Kings a 4-0 lead.
Orr then picked up an assist on Chong Min Lee’s first of the season increasing the advantage to 5-0.
Later in the second, Darwin Lakoduk scored on the power-play to spoil the shut-out bid for Spruce Kings netminder Jett Alexander.
Cunningham added his second of the night on the power-play to ice the victory for the 1-1-1 Spruce Kings.
Prince George wraps up a four-game home stand tonight at 7pm against the Penticton Vees (3-0) from the RMCA.
