RCMP notify police watchdogs of incident in Prince George

The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) has been informed of an incident which resulted in one man being taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon in Prince George.

Just after 11:30 a.m., Prince George RCMP plainclothes officers witnessed, what they believed to be a drug transaction, in the 1100-block of 3rd Avenue.

A nearby frontline officer attempted to arrest a 28-year-old Prince George man, however, the man proceeded to then flee on his bike into a rail yard located in the 1900-block of 1st Avenue. The man was eventually taken into custody a short time later.

One of the officers who witnessed the initial incident attempted to stop the man. It was at this time that officers made an attempt to stop the man on his bike, which ultimately led to the man suffering a head injury.
