UNBC WSOC claw out a tie in Regina

The UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team scraped a point from its two-game Saskatchewan road swing following a 1-1 tie against the Regina Cougars on Sunday.

Paige Payne drew first blood for the visitors ripping a shot past Cougars goalkeeper Kylie Bolton.

Regina replied early in the second half as Sydney Langan booted the equalizer past Brooke Molby in the 56th minute to preserve the draw.

UNBC improves to 2-1-1 on the season after falling 3-1 on Saturday to the Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon.

Hannah Emmond scored in defeat for the T-Wolves.

Kalli Cowles, Halle Krynowsky and Maya Gabruch rippled the onion bag for the Huskies.

Madi Doyle took the loss in net for UNBC.

The T-Wolves return home Friday (6 pm) and Sunday (Noon) to face the Lethbridge Pronghorns (0-2-2) and the Mount Royal Cougars (0-4).

The top six teams in the Pacific Division make the playoffs, UNBC sits in fifth place but are just three points out of the top spot, which is being occupied by Trinity Western (3-0-1).
