Gas prices to rise again in PG?

Drone attacks in Saudi Arabia could lead to a spike in gas prices across the country including Prince George.

The northern capital still has the lowest gas price in the province at 109.9, which is being held down by Costco while most other stations are at 114.9 cents a litre.

Dan McTeague with Gas Price Wizard told MyPGNow.com while it doesn’t appear we will able to avoid a price increase, the question remains how much of a spike will we see.

“We could see price increases of about five or six cents a litre, that the bad news, the good news happening at the same time is that we are also entering this week the transition from summer to winter gasoline, which is cheaper to make.”

He adds this comes at a time where things were starting to even out within the sector.

“Right now, this came in an environment where supply and demand were about even and so this does tip the situation in favour of a supply shortage should this continue for several weeks.”

McTeague said BC does have a different tax regime along with a clean fuel standard, which could further complicate the price at the pumps.
