Cougars rollin’ out the red carpet for home opener

Prince George Cougars fans can be expecting a ‘festival-like atmosphere’ according to the team’s VP of Business, Andy Beesley.

“A couple of the highlights are our players showing up in style in the fantastic Cruisin’ Classics Car Club cars,” Beesley told MyPGNow.

According to Beesley, fans can be expecting players to start arriving at the CN Centre ahead of their home opener, against the reigning West Division champion Vancouver Giants, at approximately 4:50 p.m.

Fans will be able to get autographs from the players prior to them entering the arena.

Fans will then be able to enjoy a tailgate party in the parking lot with food, music and a live DJ leading right up to doors opening at 6:00 p.m., which is when the party will then move inside as the countdown to puck-drop will begin.

“We’ve got all kinds of new things. We’ve got a new opening video and a new way that the players are going to be entering the arena. We think fans are going to have a lot of fun just welcoming back our team and, for that matter, the Prince George Cougars welcoming back the fans.”

Beesley added that the fun that goes with opening night will be a mere fraction of what fans can be expecting for the 2019-20 WHL regular season as the organization gets set for a full schedule of events throughout the year.

While he wouldn’t go into full detail, Beesley said fans can be expecting something quite unique come the new year.

“I can only give a teaser about, but it’s going to be a first of its kind in any hockey game ever in the history of hockey as far as we know. Something quite unusual is going to happen, and I think fans are going to get a real kick out of that one.”

Take of that what you will, Cougars fans.
