The tournament began on Thursday and runs until the 28th.

Paciejewski told MyPGNow.com it’s always good to get the call.

“It’s a big honour being able to represent the country my dad was born in. Anytime I get a chance to wear the Scotland jersey is a real treat and this time is actually my first time playing box lacrosse for them.”

He is looking forward to seeing how he and his Scottish teammates measure up.

“Playing in the senior lacrosse league is fun but it’s definitely different to come here and play against the best in the world, right. There is a lot of skill here and a lot of talent and I’m excited to see what I can do against some of that talent.”

The local product sure didn’t disappoint, notching seven goals and 11 points in Scotland’s tournament opener on Thursday, which was a 24-14 loss to Slovakia.

Despite the loss, Paciejewski remains optimistic about the team’s chances.

“I think my confidence is at an all-time high, honestly. I feel like we are kind of the underdogs in this tournament and that’s the exact spot I want to be in. I like being the underdog, I like coming in and working hard and I’m excited to show the world what we can do.”

This year’s edition has a bit more international flavour to it than year’s past, which suits Paciejewski just fine.

“This is the fourth world championship Scotland has put a team in. Every other year they have entered the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships it’s typically been a more North American roster where this year they have tried to focus primarily on having Scottish-born players on the team making me one of the few North American-born players on the team as everyone else lives in Europe.”
