Spruce Kings given a rough ride on road swing

The highway wasn’t too kind to the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The defending Fred Page and Doyle Cup champions only mustered one win during a three-game road swing this weekend.

On Sunday, the Coquitlam Express steamrolled to a 5-1 victory thanks to a trio of goals in the second period.

James Bohn, Bradley Ong, and Danny Pearson lit the lamp against Spruce Kings netminder Jack McGovern.

In the third, Pearson notched his second of the game along with a single from Cooper Connell.

Preston Brodziak scored in defeat for Prince George.

Coquitlam outshot PG 35-13.

The Spruce Kings gutted out a 2-1 victory on Saturday over the Langley Rivermen (1-5-0-0).

Fin Willams and Cole Leal scored late in the third period as Prince George found themselves down 1-0 after 40 minutes.

Jett Alexander made 26 saves for the win.

Prince George was outshot 27-14.

The weekend got off to a rocky start on Friday after dropping a 6-2 decision against the Chilliwack Chiefs (2-4-0-0).

Ethan Bowen ran roughshod against the Spruce Kings collecting a hat-trick.

Arlo Merritt also proved to be a handful scoring two goals of his own for the Chiefs.

Brodziak and Brett Pfox replied for PG who outshot Chilliwack 29-28.

Corey Cunningham missed all three games on the road trip, he has five points in four games this season.

The 2-3-2 Spruce Kings return home for a pair of games Friday and Saturday against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and Trail Smoke Eaters.

Puck drop is at 7 pm from the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
