School CUPE Locals ask for district help in funding plea

School District 57’s CUPE Union is wanting the school board to lobby for adequate funding from the province.

At last night’s (TUES) meeting of school trustees, the union asked the board to write a letter to the Ministry of Education asking for an appropriate funding formula.

President Karen Wong says in previous years the government has been inadequate in its doling out of funds.

Wong says there have been so many cuts to public education its hard to know what adequate funding looks like.

Trustees decided to postpone passing a motion to give them more time to draft a proposal.
