Cougars make big splash with new team bus

The next time the Prince George Cougars are on the road, they’ll be travelling in style.

Today, the WHL club announced a ten-year partnership with Pacific Western Transportation as it’s new travel provider.

As part of the deal, PWT is providing the Cougars with a brand-new 48-seat bus that will include seatbelts and an entertainment system.

Cougars forward Jackson Leppard told MyPGNow.com the upgrade should benefit the players.

“It’s nice to have a nice comforting bus that I can sleep easy on overnight and we have lots of travel so it’s nice to have this upgrade.”

PWT Vice-President of Transit, Greg Nichols adds they’ve been wanting to get involved with the junior hockey team for a while.

“We’ve really wanted to partner with them over the last few years recognizing they were coming up on a time where they needed to renew their transportation and this was a good opportunity for us to come together and find them a much more technologically-advanced and safer transportation solution.”

He believes it was important to get this done for the most well-travelled team in the Western Hockey League.

“Through these negotiations, my team after talking with the Cougars did a calculation where there isn’t another team in the Western Hockey League that logs more miles than the Cougars do and there are some long stretches on the bus.”

Ralph Posteraro will continue as the team’s bus driver who has been transporting the team across the Western Hockey League for nearly two decades.

The new bus will be used exclusively by the Cougars but other local teams can rent the bus if they’re not on the road.
