WHL: (PG Cougars)

Kelowna Rockets  2  Prince George Cougars  1

Pavel Novak scored his second goal of the game on the power-play with just 1:49 left in the third period.

Josh Maser tallied for the Cougars midway through the third period before 2,243 hometown fans.

The (4-1-1) Rockets and (0-4-0-1) Cougars meet again tonight at CN Centre.

BCHL: (PG Spruce Kings)

The game was played Friday at the BCHL Showcase in Penticton.

Chong Min Lee snapped a 2-2 tie at 2:48 of the third period for the (4-4-2) Spruce Kings, who play the Trail Smoke Eaters this afternoon at 1:00 at the Showcase.

The Spruce Kings are 3rd in the Mainland Division, two points behind the (6-4) Chilliwack Chiefs and four back of the (7-2) Coquitlam Express.

The (1-0-0-1) Major Midget Cariboo Cougars visit the (1-3) Kootenay Ice today (4:00 p.m.) and Sunday (9:45 a.m.) in Trail.

There are 13 NFL games Sunday including Chicago against Oakland in London, England.

A feature afternoon game has Green Bay at Dallas with both teams 3-1.

Just three teams are unbeaten: New England and Kansas City at 4-0 & San Francisco at 3-0.

Six teams are still searching for a win.

Tennis:  

Bianca Andreescu’s win streak is over at a WTA Tour season-high 17 matches.

The 19-year-old Canadian lost 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to world No. 4 Naomi Osaka of Japan in the China Open quarterfinal.

It was also Andreescu’s first loss in nine matches this year against a top-10 opponent.
