L&M Engineering expects just under 2500 people to be living in The North Nechako Neighbourhood once it’s finished.
City Council granted a third reading to the Official Community Plan (OCP) bylaw amendments, another step in the process towards the 84.5-hectare development in the north-west sector of Prince George at the southeast corner of the Foothills Boulevard and North Nechako Road Intersection.
The plan includes 7.7 km of sidewalks, 2.4 km of collector roads and 4.9 km of local roads.
A priority for Mayor Lyn Hall is that the community knows there will be more consultations and chances to get their voices heard
“This sets the stage for the North Nechako Neighbourhood Plan to come back to council for review,” he said.
“What was important for me tonight was to emphasize that that will be held as a third reading and will allow and provide for public input on the actual neighbourhood plan. The OCP was an umbrella document, the neighbourhood plan will get into the specifics.”
The plan that L&M came to the council meeting with showed an expected development of 422 low-density residential units and 366 medium-density residential units for a projected population of 2334 residents.
“The feedback seems fairly positive but there are issues with that size of project. There’s a number of things to take into consideration but so far all the parties have done tremendous work,” said Hall.
