Small Beginnings – Big Results

Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society, also known as REAPS, is a charitable environmental group that is celebrating 30 years in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.  Starting as a small group of concerned citizens in Prince George, with a determination to stop all the newspaper ending up in the landfill, to an education hub for schools, residents, groups and businesses.  REAPS provides many resources for making environmental choices from where to recycle various items to how to compost.

Knowledge Leads To Solutions

REAPS encourages actions, both big and small, that can be taken every day to reduce your ecological footprint or the mark you leave on your natural environmental and its resources. “Ecological footprint” is defined as the measure of human demand on nature and compares human consumption of natural resources with earth’s ecological capacity to regenerate them.

REAPS works to provide solutions under broad categories with a focus on solid waste.  From climate change, oceans, habitats, salmon, recycling, composting, landfilling to gardening – everything is connected and needs conscientious actions to improve our environment and community where we call home.

Many Become One

REAPS works with other organizations, businesses, local governments and communities to create incentives for positive environmental actions; helping to create better stewards of the environment; influence policy; and keep tabs on emerging issues.
