MLB: (World Series)

Washington Nationals  6  Houston Astros  2

The Nationals, the oldest team in the majors, capture their first World Series.

The road team won every game outscoring the home team 49-14 (Washington won 5-4, 12-3, 7-2 and 6-2 on the road while Houston won 4-1, 8-1 and 7-1 as the visitors)

Stephen Strasburg, who won games two and six, was named the series MVP.

The Nationals became baseball’s best after starting the year 19-31 after 50 games.

NHL: 

Vancouver Canucks  5  LA Kings  3

The Canucks have scored five or more goals in four straight games.

Brock Boeser (3 +1) and Elias Pettersson (1 + 3) four points each.

The (8-3-1) Canucks visit (8-6) Anaheim Friday (7:00) and (4-8-1) San Jose Saturday (7:00).

Vancouver is second in the Pacific Division, just two points behind the (9-4-1) Edmonton Oilers but the Canucks have two games in hand.

There are just two Halloween night games in the NHL: Calgary at Nashville and Montreal at Vegas.

WHL: (PG Cougars)

The Prince George Cougars have released 20-year-old defenceman Austin Crossley of Fort St. John.

He is now a free agent after he was placed on and has since cleared WHL waivers.

Crossley played 110 regular season games with Prince George after the Cougars acquired him from the Prince Albert Raiders in January, 2018.

The Cougars roster sits at 23: two goaltenders, seven defencemen, and 14 forwards.

They have room to add another overage player.

The Cougars visit the (8-4-1-1) Kelowna Rockets Friday and the (6-6-1) Spokane Chiefs Saturday before hosting the Medicine Hat Tigers on Wednesday.

Prince George back-up goalie Tyler Brennan is headed to the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Medicine Hat and Swift Current which runs Nov 2nd to 9th.

The (4-9-0-1) Cougars are last in the Western Conference, four points behind the (6-6-1) Victoria Royals, the (5-5-2-1) Seattle Thunderbirds and Spokane,

: (PG Spruce Kings)

The Prince George Spruce Kings host the (8-11) Langley Rivermen Friday and Saturday.

The (6-9-2-1) Spruce Kings are 4th in the Mainland Division, a point behind Langley and two ahead of the (6-12-0-1) Surrey Eagles.

BC Major Midget League: (Cariboo Cougars)

The (8-1-0-1) Cariboo Cougars host the (11-0-0-1) league-leading Okanagan Rockets Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Kin 1.

The Major Midget Cougars are in 4th place in the 11-team BCMML, but just a point behind the (9-3) Vancouver NE Chiefs and the (9-3) Vancouver NW Hawks with the Cats holding two games in hand.

Canada West Basketball: (UNBC Timberwolves)

The UNBC Timberwolves begin their Canada West basketball regular season by hosting the Victoria Vikes this weekend.

Game times are 6 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday for the women and two hours later for the men.

NBA:

The (4-1) Raptors visit the Milwaukee Bucks Saturday night at 5:00 (PT).

The San Francisco 49’ers put their perfect 7-0 record on the line when they visit the (3-4-1) Arizona Cardinals tonight to start the ninth week of the NFL season.

CFL: (Week 21)

The CFL regular season ends this weekend.

The (12-5) Saskatchewan Riders can clinch first place in the West Division with a win at home against the (8-9) Edmonton Eskimos Saturday (1:00 PT).

Saskatchewan is two points ahead of (11-6) Calgary and (11-7) Winnipeg.

The Stampeders close out the regular season when they visit the (5-12) BC Lions Saturday night at 7:00.

Week 21 begins Friday (4:00 PT) with (9-8) Montreal at (3-14) Ottawa.

The other eastern game has (4-13) Toronto at (14-3) Hamilton Saturday (4:00 PT).
