The Chiefs exploded with five goals in the second period.
Third-string goalie Jacob Herman allowed six goals for the second straight night.
Starter Taylor Gauthier is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury while back-up Tyler Brennan is competing at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Medicine Hat and Swift Current.
The (4-11-0-1) Cougars are last in the Western Conference, four points behind (6-7-1) Victoria and (5-7-2-1) Seattle.
They are also six back of (7-6-1) Spokane.

With the weekend sweep, the (8-9-2-1) Spruce Kings are in third place in the Mainland Division, three points ahead of the (8-13) Langley and seven behind the second place (11-6-3-1) Chilliwack Chiefs.
The Spruce Kings play their next three on the road.
Prince George will visit (16-4) Coquitlam Wednesday, (7-13-0-1) Surrey Friday and Chilliwack Saturday.
