Blast of Arctic air coming through Prince George

Temperatures are expected to drop dramatically this week and winter may rear its head.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Jonathon Bau said the rain we are seeing today (Sunday) should clear up by tomorrow afternoon.

“But don’t quite celebrate just yet, winter is on its way. We’re looking at winds picking up from the southwest, 30 gusting to 50 km an hour with a high of 10 degrees.”

According to Bau, a cold front of Arctic air will push through on Monday night, bringing with it a chance of flurries and a drop in temperature.

“Tuesday will hold on to about minus six and cool throughout the day. Once that cold front pushes through, we’re looking at clearing skies and a low of minus 16 overnight.”

He said it’s possible that we may see two or three centimetres of snow while that cold front visits but later in the week it should warm up to about minus five.
