WHL: (PG Cougars)

Spokane Chiefs  6  Prince George Cougars  0  (Saturday)

The Chiefs exploded with five goals in the second period.

Third-string goalie Jacob Herman allowed six goals for the second straight night.

Starter Taylor Gauthier is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury while back-up Tyler Brennan is competing at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Medicine Hat and Swift Current.

The (4-11-0-1) Cougars are last in the Western Conference, four points behind (6-7-1) Victoria and (5-7-2-1) Seattle.

They are also seven back of (7-6-2) Spokane.

Kelowna Rockets  6  Prince George Cougars  2  (Friday)

The Cougars play their next three games at CN Centre.

They host (10-5-1) Medicine Hat Wednesday plus Victoria Friday and Saturday.

Medicine Hat is coming off a 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Giants on Sunday.

BCHL: (PG Spruce Kings)

With the weekend sweep, the (8-9-2-1) Spruce Kings are in third place in the Mainland Division, three points ahead of (8-13) Langley and (7-13-0-2) Surrey and seven behind the second place (11-7-3-1) Chilliwack Chiefs.

The Spruce Kings play their next three on the road.

Prince George will visit (17-4) Coquitlam Wednesday, Surrey Friday and Chilliwack Saturday.

The next home game for the Spruce Kings will be on Nov. 13th against the Vernon Vipers.

BC Major Midget League: (Cariboo Cougars)

Cariboo Cougars  5  Okanagan Rockets  1  (Sunday)
Okanagan Rockets  4  Cariboo Cougars  1  (Saturday)

The Cougars are 9-2-0-1 and the Rockets 12-1-0-1 after the weekend split of the doubleheader at Kin 1.

The Major Midget Cougars are in 4th place in the 11-team BCMML, but just a point behind the (10-4) Vancouver NE Chiefs and the (10-4) Vancouver NW Hawks with Cariboo holding two games in hand.

The Cougars will be at the North Shore Winter Club this weekend for games against the Vancouver NW Hawks.

Game times are 7:45 p.m. (Saturday) and 10:15 a.m. (Sunday).

In other weekend action involving Cariboo Hockey teams, the North Central midget double-A Bobcats hosted East Kootenay in a doubleheader.

The Bobcats won 3-0 on Saturday and the teams battled to a 4-4 tie on Sunday.

Meanwhile, at the North Shore Winter Club, the major bantam (4-6-0-1) Cariboo Cougars won a pair of games against the Vancouver Northwest Hawks, 6-1 on Saturday and 3-2 in overtime on Sunday.

In minor midget play in Richmond, the Cougars beat the Valley West Giants 4-3 on Saturday and fell 5-2 on Sunday.

The loss ended a seven-game winning streak for the Cats, who are 7-3 on the season.

The (9-3-2) Canucks host the (9-3-3) St. Louis Blues Tuesday.

Vancouver went 2-0-1 on its three-game California road trip.

There are four NHL games tonight including Arizona at Edmonton.

The (10-4-1) Oilers lead the Pacific Division by just a point over Vancouver.

Elsewhere, Ottawa visits NY Rangers, Boston hosts Pittsburgh and Nashville faces off in Detroit.

The Seahawks are 7-2.

The Monday night game (5:15 PT) to wrap up the 9th week of the NFL season has (4-3) Dallas at (2-6) New York Giants.

CFL: (Week 21) Final games of the regular season

Saskatchewan  23  Edmonton  13  (Saturday)
(The 13-5 Roughriders clinched first place in the West Division)

(The 12-6 Stampeders finished second in the West. The Lions ended their season 5-13)

(The 15-3 Tiger-Cats finished with the CFL’s best record and ended up a perfect 9-0 at home)

Playoffs begin Sunday in the CFL.

Edmonton visits Montreal (10 a.m. PT) in the Eastern semi-final with the winner to play at Hamilton on Nov. 17th.

Winnipeg will be on the road at Calgary (1:30 p.m. PT) in the Western semi-final with the winner to visit Saskatchewan on Nov. 17th.
