Work will continue overnight and it’s believed the failure occurred in a large, cast iron water pipe installed in 1956.

Only properties on the south side of 3rd Avenue in the vicinity of the leak have no water service at the present time.

According to the city, shutting off the main may have caused some short-term disruptions of service or dirty water in the area.

Any residents should run their water until it’s clean.

They are encouraged to call 3-1-1 to report persistent water service problems.
