New Cats on the block

It’s official.

The Prince George Cougars have a new ownership group. The WHL Board of Governors has unanimously approved the sale of the Cougars from Rick Brodsky to EDGEPRO Sports and Entertainment Ltd., which is led by local businessman Greg Pocock. His partners are NHL defencemen and ex Cats Dan Hamhuis and Eric Brewer plus Ernest Ouellet, Raymond Fortier, and John Pateman.
The Governors also unanimously voted to approve the
Regina Pats sale from Russ and Diane Parker to Queen City Sports and Entertainment Group Ltd.(Regina businessmen). “The WHL is fortunate to have attracted two very high calibre ownership groups who are fully committed to whatever is necessary to take the Prince George Cougars and the Regina Pats franchises to a new level,” commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison.

The transfer of ownership of the Cougars is expected to be complete as of Thursday, May 8th. The new ownership group will hold a media conference, which is open to the public, on Tuesday, May 13th from 12:15pm to 1:00 at CN Centre.

–The WHL holds its annual Bantam Draft Thursday in Calgary. The Cougars have the 5th overall pick.
