NHL: (Canadian teams went 1-3 Tuesday)

Tampa Bay  9  Vancouver  2

The Lightning struck for six goals in the second and three more in the third to erase a 1-0 deficit and post their 8th consecutive win.

The loss ended Vancouver’s 7-game win streak.

The (23-16-4) Canucks visit Brett Connolly and the (22-16-5) Florida Panthers Thursday (4:00) which is stop two on a five-game road trip.

Vancouver is 5th in the Pacific Division, but just a point behind both Edmonton and Calgary.

The Nashville Predators lost their first game under new head coach John Hynes.

The Predators, who fired Peter Laviolette Monday, fell 6-2 at home against Boston.

The (19-16-7) Predators are five points out of a playoff spot.

There are 3 NHL games tonight including Winnipeg at Toronto.

Elsewhere, Washington at Philadelphia and Dallas at LA.

WHL: (PG Cougars)

The Prince George Cougars play their next six games on the road in a 10-day period against the East Division.

The Cougars face off tonight in Regina.

They also play in Prince Albert Friday, Saskatoon Saturday, Winnipeg on Tuesday, Brandon on Wednesday the 15th and Moose Jaw on Friday the 17th.

The (11-21-3-2) Pats are 12 points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The (10-22-2-3) Cougars are 6 points behind the (13-18-4-1) Tri-City Americans and eight points back of the (15-20-2-1) Seattle Thunderbirds in the race for the final Western Conference wild-card spot.

PG Spruce Kings: (BCHL)The Prince George Spruce Kings put their three-game win streak on the line when they host the Surrey Eagles Friday and Saturday.

With 18 games left, the (14-21-2-3) Spruce Kings are last in the Mainland Division, three points behind (15-19-2-4) Surrey and six back of (18-18-1-1-1) Langley.

Canada West Basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves are halfway thru their 20-game Canada West basketball regular season.

The Timberwolves host the Fraser Valley Cascades Friday night at 6:00 and 8:00 and Saturday evening at 5:00 and 7:00.

The 4-6 UNBC men are 11th out of 17 teams.

The 3-7 UNBC women are 13th.

The Cascades are 4-6 (men) and 6-4 (women)

The top 12 will advance to the playoffs.

NBA:

Portland Trail Blazers  101  Toronto Raptors  99

First loss this season (18-1) for the Raptors to a team under .500.

The (24-13) Raptors, who are 4th in the Eastern Conference., visit the (15-24) Charlotte Hornets tonight (4:00 PT).

The Carolina Panthers came to terms with Baylor’s Matt Rhule while the New York Giants have hire New England Patriots wide receivers coach Joe Judge.

NFL:

The NFL conference semifinals will go this weekend.

The NFC semifinals start with Minnesota at San Francisco Saturday (1:35 p.m. PT) followed by  Seattle at Green Bay Sunday (3:40 p.m. PT).

The AFC semifinals will feature Tennessee at Baltimore (Saturday 5:15 p.m. PT) and Houston at Kansas City (Sunday at 12:05 p.m. PT).
