WHL: (PG Cougars)
The Prince George Cougars dealt defenceman Rhett Rheinhart (01) to the Saskatoon Blades and forward Reid Perepeluk (00) to the Brandon Wheat Kings prior to this afternoon’s WHL trade deadline.
The Cougars acquired a first-round WHL Bantam Draft Selection this year, defenceman Majid Kaddoura (’01) and the rights to unsigned 2003-born forward Jayden Watson from the Blades, in exchange for Rhinehart and a third-round Bantam pick.
PG also obtained forward Jonny Hooker (’01) from the Wheat Kings in return for Perepeluk.
The Cougars now have three first-round selections in the Bantam Draft in May.

The PG Cougars visit the defending WHL champion Prince Albert Raiders tonight (5:00 PT).
The Cougars began their six-game East Division road trip with a 5-4 shootout loss Wednesday in Regina.

The (21-14-5-1) Raiders are only a point behind East Division-leading Winnipeg but are struggling with just one win in their last 10 games.
The (10-22-2-4) Cougars are five points behind the (13-18-4-1) Tri-City Americans and seven points back of the (15-20-2-1) Seattle Thunderbirds in the race for the final Western Conference wild-card spot.
The Cougars also play Saturday in Saskatoon, Tuesday in Winnipeg, Wednesday in Brandon before concluding the trip Friday, Jan. 17th in Moose Jaw.

PG Spruce Kings: (BCHL)
The Prince George Spruce Kings have only three home games this month, two of them this weekend.
The Spruce Kings, riding a three-game win streak, host the Surrey Eagles tonight and Saturday.
After 40 of 58 games, the (14-21-2-3) Spruce Kings are last in the Mainland Division, three points behind (15-19-2-4) Surrey and six back of (18-19-1-1-1) Langley.

Brett Connolly of Prince George picked up an assist for the (23-16-5) Panthers.
The 27-year-old Connolly has 27 points, including 16 goals, in 44 games this season with the Panthers.
The (23-17-4) Canucks are 0-2 on a five-game road trip. (They lost 9-2 Tuesday in Tampa)
Vancouver will play at Buffalo Saturday (10:00 AM PT), at Minnesota Sunday (1:00 PM PT) and at Winnipeg Tuesday (5:00 PM PT).
The Canucks are 5th in the Pacific Division, three points behind both Edmonton and Calgary.
Vancouver is also two points behind Winnipeg for the second Western Conference wild-card spot.

Team Canada captain Barrett Hayton has a Grade 1 AC shoulder injury and is out week-to-week.
The Arizona Coyotes recalled Hayton on Wednesday after winning gold at the World Junior Championship in the Czech Republic.
