Spruce Kings bring home local product, acquire a forward following pair of trades

The Prince George Spruce Kings made a couple of moves during trade deadline day (Friday) in the BCHL.

The defending Fred Page and Doyle Cup champs acquired defenceman and local product Jarin Sutton from the AJHL’s Grande Prairie Strom for Future Considerations.

“It’s always nice to add another local player to our lineup. Jarin is a great young man who plays the game hard and will provide some size, experience and physical play to our backend. He’s excited to be coming home and we’re excited to have him” said Mike Hawes, General Manager.

Sutton had 19 points which included 6 goals and 13 assists this season.

The 20-year-old has 43 games of previous BCHL experience with the Victoria Grizzlies.

Sutton was also part of the Cariboo Cougars team that won the BC Major Midget League Championship during the 2016-17 season.

In a corresponding move, the Spruce Kings acquired forward Jackson Zloty from the Calgary Canucks for future considerations.

The 19-year-old posted 15 points this season with Calgary before coming to PG.

The Spruce Kings are back in action tonight when they host the Surrey Eagles at 7:00 PM from the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
