10 people arrested in Willow River

The Prince George RCMP are investigating a shooting that took place this morning (Thursday).

Just after 1:30, police received a report of two people that went to the hospital with injuries consistent with being shot.

Those injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

After police spoke to the victims, the investigation led officers to believe they were shot by someone they knew on the 3100 block of Westwood Drive.

While looking for the suspect, officers observed him in a large SUV and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle did not stop and fled the area.

Through further investigation, the RCMP located the suspect’s car outside of a residence in Willow River, just east of Prince George,  where four women and six men taken into custody
without incident.

According to the RCMP, the culprit was not among those taken into custody.

“Although the motive of this attack is yet to be confirmed, we believe the suspect and the victims were known to each other and that this was a targetted attack. The RCMP do not believe this is related to the shooting on Tuesday night,” said Cpl. Craig Douglass, Prince George RCMP.

The Prince George RCMP responded to a public safety investigation leading officers to a home in Willow River, east of the city this morning (Thursday).

Police have surrounded the home and are attempting to have the people inside exit without incident.

The public is asked to avoid the area and more details will be provided when made available.

The Police Dog Services Unit along with the North District RCMP’s Emergency Response Team has been called in to assist.
