The on-court accolades keep rolling in for Maria Mongomo in her final season with the UNBC Timberwolves women’s basketball team.
Today (Thursday), the fifth-year player out of Las Palmas, Spain was named a First Team All-Star by the Canada West Conference after leading the league in scoring, averaging over 20 points per game.
Mongomo was also named one of the women’s three-stars on four-different occasions this season by the conference.

Not to be outdone, her teammate Madison Landry was named a Third Team All-Star by Canada West after hooping an average of 19 points a game.

The women’s basketball team will put its nine-game winning streak on the line tonight (Thursday) when they visit the Calgary Dinos (18-2), who is the third-ranked team in Canada.
Tip-off is at 5 pm Pacific Time from the Jack Simpson Gym.
Meanwhile, Fareed Shittu of the UNBC men’s basketball team was named to the Canada West All-Rookie team.

However, fourth-year player Tyrell Laing was kept off the All-Star ballot despite leading the Canada West in scoring, averaging 22 points per game.
