Program looks to train PG residents for careers in forestry

Prince George is set to host an Advanced Forestry Skills Training session developed by Stillwater Consulting Ltd. that looks to offer new job opportunities to those in need.

The 19-week program is open to those who are currently unemployed or precariously employed and living in the Prince George area.

Over the course of the program, participants will practice first aid, familiarize themselves with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS), and learn some of the basics of forestry.

According to organizers, the program hopes to prepare participants for job opportunities such as working in a tree nursery, wildland fire fighting, and recreational trail building and maintenance.

The next intake will occur between March 30th and August 7th, with applications being accepted online.
