The Ministry of Attorney General announced various time constraints associated with the justice system will be temporarily suspended.
The order suspends mandatory limitation periods, and other mandatory time periods in which any enactment, law, civil or family action, proceeding, claim or appeal set to take place in a provincial court, Supreme Court or Court of Appeal.
This means any time limitations associated with legal proceedings within the province are subject to change during the current state of emergency.
Furthermore, the order clarified any person, tribunal or body with the power of decision may waive, suspend or extend a mandatory time period within reason.
