Prince George’s roads division still preparing for Spring despite two week delay

In an official statement today, the City of Prince George announced that its roads division is still preparing for Springtime operations, although recent weather has delayed their plans by “about two weeks”.

City workers have been clearing street-side snow piles and gutter ice in preparation for road sweeping operations and pothole patching.

The City also says that this type of snow and ice removal is necessary to prevent localized flooding.

Despite delays, city crews have already patched more than 500 potholes so far this year, and have responded to nearly 500 resident requests for snow and ice removal during the month of March.

Among the other ongoing efforts: road widening, ditch maintenance, exposing drainage, and vegetation control.

Ultimately, the city hopes that current efforts lead to:

  • the quick painting of road lines and pedestrian markers
  • a reduction of flooding
  • timely road sweeping

Wintertime parking restrictions remain in effect until April 15th, with more details online.
