Playgrounds and recreational facilities to remain closed until at least May 30th

The City of Prince George has announced that it has closed all civic playgrounds and fenced dog parks, and will not be re-opening facilities such as Masich Place Stadium, sports fields, ball diamonds, skateparks, and hard surface courts until at least May 30th.

The change is effective immediately and comes as a result of Provincial Public Health guidelines.

Bookings for all outdoor facilities have also been cancelled until the end of May.

Reopening dates may be extended into, or past, June if deemed necessary.

In an official statement, the City of Prince George explained: “Parks and trails that allow for adequate physical distancing will remain open for the community to enjoy the physical and psychological benefits of green spaces. The majority of the City’s parks, including Cottonwood Island, Ferguson Lake, and Forests for the World will remain open with social/physical distancing guidelines in place and related signage on site.”

Finally, anyone visiting the remaining parks or trails must exercise physical distancing requirements.

The full announcement can be found on the City’s website.
