Hampole earns bronze

Prince George figure skater Justin Hampole of Prince George captured the bronze medal in Pre-Novice Men at the Canada Winter Games. The 13-year-old Hampole reached the podium before an enthusiastic standing room only crowd
at Lakewood Dental Kin 1 Arena. Gold went to 10-year-old Stephen Gogolev of Ontario and silver was earned by Samuel Turcotte of Quebec. Hampole was in 2nd place after the short program. Beres Clements of Gibsons finished 4th in the field of 11.

In other Canada Winter Games results Wednesday:

–Lavanna Laass of Prince George earned silver in women’s judo (-63 kgs). Grace Northrop (-52kgs) of the Hart Judo Academy finished 0-3.

–BC, skipped by Sarah Daniels of North Delta, is 4-1 in women’s curling following a 7-5 loss to Ontario. Earlier in the day, Daniels whipped PEI 9-3.
