The City of Prince George and School District 57 will be reopening all of the approximately 80 civic and school playgrounds in the area just in time for the weekend.
However, residents are still being reminded to follow Provincial orders and recommendations concerning physical distancing, proper hygiene (such as hand-washing), and limiting gatherings.
Parents are being asked not to bring children who are feeling sick to playgrounds and to avoid visiting these sites when they themselves are sick.
“As we reopen our City playgrounds it gives children the opportunity to get outside and have some fun and exercise,” said Lyn Hall, Mayor of Prince George.
All SD57 playgrounds were closed on March 23rd, with city playgrounds closing shortly after on April 3rd.
Additionally, public washrooms at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park and Duchess Park have reopened after being closed for more than two months due to COVID-19.
Outhouses located at other City parks around Prince George are similarly available for use, with enhanced cleaning protocols in place at all facilities.
Likewise, fenced dog parks in the City are now open.
