Alberta will play Ontario in the men’s hockey gold medal game Sunday at 11:35am at CN Centre. Alberta beat Manitoba 3-1 and Ontario came from behind to upend Quebec 5-2 in the semi-finals. Manitoba and Quebec will face off in the bronze medal game tonight at 7:30.
–The BC men’s hockey team outscored New Brunswick 5-3 in the relegation round. Justin Almeida of the Cariboo Cougars scored the winning goal in the third period. Almeida has six points in five games. BC will play Nova Scotia tonight at 7:30 at Kin 2 for 5th place.

–The women’s curling gold medal game tonight at 5 will feature Ontario against Nova Scotia. In the semis, Ontario whipped Saskatchewan 8-3 while Nova Scotia edged New Brunswick 7-6. The bronze game at the PG Golf and Curling Club this afternoon at 1 will have Saskatchewan vs. New Brunswick. BC’s Sarah Daniels of North Delta plays Alberta today (9am) for 5th place. BC was knocked out of medal contention after a 9-4 loss to New Brunswick in the quarter-finals.
–A medal for BC in snowboarding. Quinten Fast of Agassiz captured silver in men’s snow board slope style. It was the 76th medal of the Winter Games for Team BC, who remain third in the standings behind Quebec and Ontario. Snowboarding concludes today with the snow cross at Tabor Mountain. Competing from Prince George in the snow cross are Meryeta O’dine, Evan Bichon and Dawson Ellery.
–The BC synchronized swim team posted two fourth-place finishes in the duet competition on Friday and ended up fourth in the team event. The solo competition goes today at the Aquatic Centre.
–Judo wraps up today at the Northern Sport Centre with the team competition beginning at noon. Lavanna Laass, Kristen Yawney and Grace Northrop of Prince George are all on the BC judo.
–Team BC’s female squash team will play for the gold today; the male team will be competing for bronze at the Northern Sport Centre.
–In badminton, also at the Northern Sport Centre, B.C.’s mixed team has advanced to the bronze medal game today.
–Table Tennis at Duchess Park will wrap up competition today.
–Cross Country Skiing has the relays today at Otway beginning at 10am. The relays are mixed technique, meaning that the first two legs will be classic technique and the final two legs will be free technique.
–For the first time in the history of the Canada Winter Games, Para-Nordic skiers will be permitted to compete in the able bodied event. Brittany Hudak, Saskatchewan, is expected to be the only Para-Nordic skier to suit up for an able bodied team when she makes history by skiing a leg of the race.
–The only Prince George resident participating in the Cross Country event this week, Erica Kreitz, almost won a medal in the Para-Nordic standing free technique race when she guided blind skier Christine Henry from the Ontario team to a fourth place finish. The 2015 Canada Winter Games was Kreitz’s first guiding experience. Erica volunteered to guide for Henry when the Ontario team was unable to bring one from their province. Guides for blind skiers are also awarded medals.
