Long stretch of hot weather on the horizon for PG

Sunnier days are ahead for Prince George according to Environment Canada.

Today (Friday) is the last day of the rainy weather we’ve experienced for much of June and July.

Meteorologist, Doug Lundquist told MyPGNow.com it will start to feel a lot more like summer.

“I wouldn’t be entirely surprised that we won’t see temperatures touching 30 degrees or near 30 early next week and maybe even south of town along the Fraser River, it could get into the low 30’s.”

He also reminded people to be sun safe once the warm spell begins this weekend.

“Don’t do what I did in Kelowna, I hardly ever go out to suntan but I missed it so much that I got out and sat out in the middle of the day having got a sunburn and this is not good so perhaps we take some caution by staying hydrated, wearing sunscreen and out of the high-noon sun.”

Lundquist added it took two weeks longer for the pattern of rainy conditions to subside.

“Once we get stuck in a pattern, it’s particularly hard to get out of it. This year, it was a deep pattern with upper-lows, showers and fronts and stuff so we were really stuck in that pattern and really takes a lot to shift it.”

He even hinted at the possibility of a Heat Warning for parts of the central interior next week.
