In a nutshell:

NHL:

–Ryan O’Reilly scored twice and added an assist to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. The Blues snapped a 1-1 tie with a pair of unanswered goals in the second period. St. Louis went 2-for-5 while Vancouver was 0-for-7 on the power play. The best-of-7 Western quarterfinal series is tied 2-2 with game five Wednesday night at 7:30 (PT).

–The Boston Bruins scored four straight goals in the third period to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3. The Bruins take a 3-1 series lead with game five Wednesday (1:00 PM PT).

–The Colorado Avalanche crushed the Arizona Coyotes 7-1. The Avs enjoy a 3-1 lead in the Western quarterfinal with the series to resume Wednesday (2:30 PM PT).

–The Tampa Bay Lightning edged the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 to take a 3-1 series lead. Game five will be played Wednesday (9 AM PT).

–There are 4 Tuesday Stanley Cup playoff games: Montreal against Philadelphia (Noon PT), Calgary vs. Dallas (2:30), Washington has its season on the line against the NY Islanders (5:00) and Vegas vs. Chicago (7:30). The Flyers lead the Habs 2-1, the Flames and Stars are tied 2-2, the Islanders are ahead of the Capitals 3-0 and the Golden Knights enjoy a 3-1 lead over the Blackhawks.


NBA:

–The defending NBA champion Toronto Raptors whipped the Brooklyn Nets 134-110 in the opening game of their first-round playoff series. Fred VanVleet had eight three-pointers as part of a playoff career-high 30 points. Game two in the best-of-seven will be played Wednesday at 10:30 AM PT.

–NBA tonight has Portland at the LA Lakers (6:00 PT) in the opening game of that Western Conference quarterfinal series.


MLB:

–The Toronto Blue Jays got back on the winning track with a convincing 7-2 triumph over the Baltimore Orioles. The (8-11) Jays and (12-10) Orioles meet again tonight (4:35 PM PT) in Baltimore.


CFL:

–The CFL has cancelled its season due to the pandemic, meaning the Grey Cup will not be presented for the first time in just over 100 years (since 1919). The decision was made after the CFL was unable to secure financial assistance from the federal government.
