In a nutshell:

NHL:

–Fourth-liner Tyler Motte opened and closed the scoring with two breakaway goals to help the Vancouver Canucks to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues. The Canucks lead the best-of-seven series 3-2 with game six Friday night in Edmonton. J.T. Miller and Jake Virtanen also tallied for Vancouver, and Jacob Markstrom made 36 saves as Vancouver erased a 3-1 second period deficit.

–The Montreal Canadiens beat Philadelphia 5-3 to cut the Flyers lead to 3-2. The Habs and Flyers play game six Friday in Toronto.

–The Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning have all advanced to the NHL conference semifinals. The Avs, Bruins and Lightning won their series in five games. The Avalanche crushed Arizona 7-1, the Bruins edged Carolina 2-1 and the Lightning eliminated Columbus 5-4 in overtime to advance.

–A pair of Stanley Cup playoff games tonight (Thursday): NY Islanders against Washington (5:00 PT) and Dallas vs. Calgary (7:30). The Islanders lead the Capitals 3-1 while the Stars are ahead of the Flames 3-2.

NBA:

–Norman Powell hooped 24 points to help the Toronto Raptors to a 104-99 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The Raptors are up 2-0 with game three on Friday (10:30 AM PT).

–The LA Lakers play the Portland Trail Blazers tonight (6:00 PT). The Trail Blazers lead 1-0.

 

MLB:

–Randal Grichuk homered twice for the Toronto Blue Jays in a 5-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The (10-11) Jays swept the three-game series and will host the (9-10) Philadelphia Phillies today (10:00 AM PT).
