In a nutshell:

NHL:

The Vancouver Canucks fell 5-0 to the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of their Western Conference semi-final series.

Reilly Smith, Mark Stone, Shea Theodore and Alex Tuch all recorded two-point games. Knights lead the series 1-0 with Game 2 set for Tuesday at 6:45 PM PT.

In the Eastern Conference semi-final, the Boston Bruins edged the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2.

Bruins super-pest Brad Marchand scored the game-winner giving Boston a 1-0 series lead.

Victor Hedman scored twice in a losing effort for the Bolts who are coached by Jon Cooper of Prince George.

The Philadelphia Flyers and the Islanders begin their Eastern Conference semifinal tonight (4:00 PT), while in the West, Dallas takes on Colorado in Game 2 with the Stars leading the series 1-0.

The Washington Capitals are looking for a new head coach after sacking Todd Reirdon on Sunday. In two seasons behind the bench, the Caps have been ousted in the first round of the playoffs.

NBA:

The Toronto Raptors are off to round two of the NBA Playoffs after sweeping the Brooklyn Nets. The Raps coasted to an easy 150-122 victory.

Norman Powell had a game-high 29 points for Toronto.

The Raptors will face the Boston Celtics in round two.

MLB:

The Toronto Blue Jays continued their struggles with the Tampa Bay Rays dropping a 5-4 decision on Sunday at Tropicana Field.

The Jays drop to 13-13 on the season while the Rays are 19-10.

Both teams play again today at 12:10 Pacific Time.
