The Prince George RCMP received a report of overdue hunters off Blackwater Road, southwest of the city late Monday night.
According to police, three adults and two children failed to return home as planned.
Officers patrolled the area looking for the vehicle they were associated with but came up empty.
Emergency Management BC was contacted and deployed the Prince George Search and Rescue Society this morning (Tuesday).

Family members were able to make contact with the overdue hunters via a satellite phone.
The hunters suffered vehicle trouble, but were fine and did not require further assistance.
