NBA:

–The LA Lakers built up a 32-point lead and they went on to crush the Miami Heat 116-98 in the opening game of the best-of-7 NBA Finals. Anthony Davis (34) and LeBron James combined for 59 points in the win. James was an assist short of a triple-double. Kelly Olynyk of Kamloops came off the bench to score 4 points (in 18 minutes) for the Heat. Game 2 will be played Friday night just after 6:00 (PT) from the Orlando bubble.

MLB:

–It was a quick exit for the Toronto Blue Jays. The Tampa Bay Rays whipped the Blue Jays 8-2 to sweep their best-of-3 American League first-round series 2-0.

–In other AL playoff action: The New York Yankees outscored Cleveland 10-9 to win the series 2-0, Oakland beat the Chicago White Sox 5-3 to even the series 1-1 and Houston got by Minnesota 3-1 to win 2-0. The Twins have lost an all-time postseason record 18 straight games. (The Yankees will play Tampa in the ALDS)

–In the NL (1st games in the best-of-3): LA Dodgers doubled Milwaukee 4-2, Atlanta edged Cincinnati 1-0 in 13 innings, Miami beat the Chicago Cubs 5-1 and St. Louis outscored San Diego 7-4.

NFL:

–The Tennessee Titans home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers has been moved from Sunday to later in the season. The NFL made the decision after the Titans reported nine positive COVID-19 tests in their organization.

–Week four of the NFL season starts tonight (5:20 PT) with the Denver Broncos at the New York Jets. Both teams are 0-3 and among 8 winless teams in the league.
