Local game developer releases Northern BC wine country project

A Kickstarter campaign has been launched for a new game exploring wine and tourism within the Naramata wine country.

“As you play the game you’re actually acquiring tourists, and then you take the tourists to existing locations in the Naramata Bench wineries that have different offerings,” explained Norm Coyne, Team Member of the Naramata Board Game.

The game can be played by 1-4 players, and each round is slated to take anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes.

“As you go through the bench, you’re fulfilling the tourist’s needs and as you visit each location you can lock out the needs for other players so it’s a little bit strategic that way,” added Coyne.

Prince George Game Developer, Chris Dias created the game in hopes to help the Northern BC Tourism sector as it continues to face pandemic-related challenges.

“In general, tourism has a lot of challenges right now,” said Coyne, “Dias is very passionate about wine and tourism, with him being rooted in Prince George is basically putting a face on a champion that is trying to make a difference across the province.”

Currently, the game has reached just over  $1,700 of it’s $24,200, Coyne explains, “As soon as we hit that benchmark, we’ll activate onto another pledge level that will open up new characters and different facets of the game that weren’t previously available.”

“The better that we score in the Kickstarter, the more profile the game will acquire,” noted Coyne, ” because this game is actually going to be distributed globally.”
